For me, the rising of the sun is a sign and wonder that God has given me 1 more day. The birds singing all over our ranch is a sign and wonder that God loves music even more than I do. My Aussies’ {Jake, Cisco and Emma Rae} loyalty and faithfulness are signs and wonders, reminding me that God, the Hound of Heaven, is infinitely more loyal and faithful than that! A horrible sinner bathed in tears of repentance is a sign and wonder of God’s mercy and forgiveness.
Too many of us look for signs and wonders in the apocalyptic or the cataclysmic moment, sensational miracles or personal revelations to thrill us or make us feel special or chosen or even confirm our deepest fears.
But we must remember that we are chosen, one of a kind unique in the moments God gives us now! In this new day, in the song of the birds, my dog jumping up on me, so excited to be alive and heading out to the horses one more time, in these moments I can truly touch the living face of God. In an intimate way, in my wife Barbara’s touch, I can sense the angels, the love of God, and know that Heaven is as real and as close as my next breath!
